The effects of global warming Lesson Objective To understand the possible effects of global warming worldwide

Greenhouse Gases Gases like c_____ d____,m_______ and nitrous oxide trap heat around the earth. Greenhouse Effect It is the way the a____________ traps some of the sun’s h___ to warm the environment. Global warming A world wide w__________ of the a___________ due to the i_________ of c____ d____ and other g_____ into the atmosphere by h________ activity. Key Words- complete the sentences

Effects of global warming Polar ice caps and glaciers melting as temperatures increase. Melting ice would cause the sea level to rise. Low lying areas would be flooded. More floods and storms in some places and more severe. More drought and famine in other places- deserts therefore get bigger. Some plants and animals become extinct. Heating and electricity bills may be reduced. Tropical diseases may spread to temperate regions, like the UK. Wars over water and resources. TASK: Complete the brainstorm. Pick any three of these effects (or your own) and explain what positives and negatives they may have.

Poster Design an A4 poster on global warming You must include: – What is global warming? – What are the greenhouse gases? – Why does the earth need greenhouse gases? – What causes it? – Give 5 things that produce greenhouse gasses – What are the effects of global warming? – Give 3 examples of that global warming might cause in the future – What can you do to slow it? – Some pictures
