Lesson 3: Vocabulary and Postulates LT: I can find and compare the measures of angles and identify those angles by type

Angle  An Angle is formed by two rays with the same endpoint

Side  The rays are the sides of the angle

Vertex  The endpoint is the vertex of the angle (ex. B)

Naming an Angle:  You can name an angle by:  1  The vertex (ex. B)  A Number (ex. 1)  A point on each ray and the vertex  (When naming an angle by three points the vertex must go in the middle.) 1

Congruent Angles  Angles with the same measure

Angle Measure  Is the absolute value of the difference of the real numbers paired with the rays of the angle

Types of Angles

Postulate 1-7: Protractor Postulate  Consider a point A on one side OB. The rays of the form OA can be matched one to one with the real numbers from  The measure of angle AOB is equal to the absolute value of the difference between the real numbers for OA and OB. Lesson 3 Postulates

Postulate 1-8: Angle Addition Postulate Lesson 3 Postulates
