NPS on SHMS

View of NPS sweeping magnet from TOSCA

Field Integral – 0.3 TM

Stray field- beam side

Horizontal field deflector for neutral pion spectrometer- C/O Bogdan

Can we Modify the horizontal field magnet to work for NPS? Yes Open the yoke and reverse polarity of one coil We can make field integral for NPS However, the resulting magnet is not efficient losing about half the flux Resulting field on electron beam requires a coil that resembles the NPS coil!

C mag Vertical field version 0.3 TM

Spread of vertical field

Horizontal field 0.6 TM

Can we use the same DC power supply? Yes Neither Magnets’ “coil designs” are optimized or final designed We can easily make the requirements similar Example follows
