The AHS Matchbox Diary Project A Visual Diary What’s a diary? “A way to remember what happens to you. Usually it’s a book people write in. When I was your age, I had a lot I wanted to remember, but I couldn’t read or write. So I started this.”

Allen Reads! Students all over Allen are reading books about memory, identity, and our individual history

For this project, we are specifically looking at this picture book But encourage you to explore the others

Orphan Train Author, Christina Baker Kline will be speaking here at AHS in the spring

I’ve come to think that’s what heaven is – a place in the memory of others where our best selves live on” ~ Orphan Train All the books are about:MEMORY IDENTITY PAST ANCESTORY HERITAGE FAMILY

Every art student at AHS will create a matchbox memory piece

Your teacher will help direct you in materials and design

Different classes may have different requirements You make look at some new artists to inspire your pieces

But every student will create an individual piece personal to them

So they will all be unique and individual…

Your piece will be part of a whole AHS Matchbox Diary and displayed throughout the community
