Paul Harris Fellow

What makes a Paul Harris Fellow ? Donors of US$1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, or the Humanitarian Grants Program, or people who have that amount contributed in their name, can be recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. Each new Paul Harris Fellow receives a commemorative certificate and a pin.

In the year l956, the total contributions to The Rotary Foundation were a little less than $500,000 US dollars ( $493,722 to be exact). The Trustees began to think about how they could raise more money for the Foundation. What would be a good way to encourage Rotarians to give "big money"? The Trustees finally came up with the idea of trying to get some Rotarians to give $1000 in one major gift, by giving them a special form of public recognition. So, it was suggested that we call them… " Paul Harris Fellows." How did it begin?

OUR FOCUS Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Disease Prevention and Treatment Water and Sanitation Maternal and Child Health Basic Education and Literacy Economic and Community Development What happens with the money? Annual Fund Money circulates back to the District within 3 years. 50% of this money goes back directly to the District to fund Club projects. The more a Club donates, the more eligible they are for grants.

Grants Currently Supported by the Rotary Club of Sylva Backpack Meals Maternal and Child Health The Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic Disease Prevention and Treatment Neighbors in Need Economic and Community Development
