PSB and PS test systems status. M. Haase September 14 th Finemet Review

MILESTONE PSB FINEMET TEST CAVITY 1; 2011/2012: Installing first prototype with 5 cells 2; 2012: First successful beam in the cavity 3; Autumn 2012: malfunction amplifier, because very high radiation caused by not correct aligned elements in the Ring (~200Gy) 4; 2014: Finalisation of installing second part with 5 cells 5; 2014: Installing of improved power amplifier 6; 2014: Installing of improved control & monitoring electronic 7; Spring 2014: test without beam successful 7kVp 8; November 2014: first successful beam in the Finemet cavity with 10 Cell 2

PSB FINEMET TEST CAVITY RING 6L1 Cavity 10 Cell Amplifier Finemet 5

CONCLUSION: BOOSTER FINEMET CAVITY TEST 6 3; The system proved good performance and high flexibility 1; Since spring 2014 we have almost no failure. 4; The cavity is used for the PSB normal operation. 2; Low Level operation team has prepared the beam setup H1 and H2 and multiharmonics 5; All test at the moment with the system are successfully. 6; There is no degradation visible.

STATUS PS FINEMET LONGITUDINAL CAVITY 7 1; 2014: Installing the PS longitudinal damper Cavity 2; Only 4 single ended amplifiers available: 2 Gaps equipped 3; Test without beam to nominal Voltage with 2 Gaps (one Gap 800Vp) 4; End 2014: 4 more amplifiers available: 4 gaps equipped 5; Missing gaps not equipped because of missing amplifiers and other problems

CONCLUSION: PS FINEMET LONGITUDINAL CAVITY 12 1; High beam induced voltage observed around 40 MHz. 6; Accessibility problems to the amplifier many breakdown linked to the cabling. 4; Problems with the cabling layout, (Ring and control racks). 3; Gap Relay efficiency is not good enough. 5; Water flow problems in the amplifier. 2; Passive gap monitor has a resonance at 40MHz, instead we use the active gap monitor. Despite all problems the operation with beam is successful details later from Heiko. This is a prototype. Additional development required to come to final version!

REMARK: CONNECTIVITY AMPLIFIER RING 13 Fragile connector: SUB-D 37 PIN Complicated connection to replace an Amplifier 40V connection Water connection

IMPROVED DESIGN DONE 14 1; Cleaner cabling layout on amplifier and control chassis side. 2; Front & back panels for amplifier and control chassis redesigned. 3; Improved Control & monitoring chassis and monitor electronic card 4; Improvements in amplifier: 4a; Improved thermal management 4b; Mechanical redesigned as plug in unit 4c; Improved internal monitoring

NEW: CONNECTIVITY AMPLIFIER RING 15 RF IN and RF MONITOR WATER CONNECTION 40V & 27V CONNECTION BURNDY 50 PIN CONNECTION CONTROL & MONITORING

Evolution towards final installation 16 Cavity and radiation shielding maintained with minor modifications Full system to be redesigned for improved cabling and accessibility System to be designed for final installation and integration in section 7L1, 10L1 and 13L1 PSB PS Details provided later
