The KN-BAS: Kiyawana Nuwana Bookshop Automation System is to automate all operations in the Kiyawana Nuwana bookshop. It includes the Store Sales Management, Inventory Management, User Management, Payroll, Administration Functions and Report Generation. Problems with the Current Manual System Accuracy of the paper based work can be low It is very time consuming to get a summary of details Searching is quite hectic task for a person. No way to check the different queries which may arise at various stages of processing. Inconsistent Data

Objectives Reducing time in activities:- Reduce the time taken process the query the availability of a book, update stock, generate sales statistic, monitoring all records etc. Centralized data handle:- Transfer the data smoothly to all the departments involved and handle the data centralized way. User wise system security:- To provide proper data security by not allowing unauthorized personnel to access data that they are not supposed to handle. Scope The wide scope of the project is to computerize their existing manual system. The new technology will make their system more reliable, secure and easy to use for end users practically and visually.

The system is based on menu driven interfaces. Menu selection will be done by using the mouse. Confirmation messages on taken actions, input acceptance and error conditions will be displayed after each input. Error messages will be displayed at the time of detection of input errors and the system errors.

Increments of sales, reduction of the workload, and the capability of providing the service of the supply the portrait on customer demand are the major achievements. FUTURE WORK As a major improvement an online ordering and delivering system through a web site which interacts with a local system can be introduced. And also it will make a positive impact on the system would be to include a payment gateway for the web site. A barcode reader can be built into the POS (Point-of-Sales) terminal. An EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) can be introduced. A credit card (or debit card) is swiped through a card reader to read the customer‘s bank account details.
