Planning and Goal Setting CCCS: 2.2 Integrated Skills Mr. Kelly and Ms. Traettino

What is a goal? ● A goal is determined by you. It can be something you want to improve in your life or it can be a specific number you want to reach. Example: (Fundraiser goal of $1,000) ● There are many types of goals: – Personal GoalsFinancial Goals – Group GoalsFitness Goals – Health GoalsAcademic Goals – Time Management Goals

Short-term vs. Long-term ● Short-term goals are set to be achieved in a shorter time. These goals can be steps to helping you achieve your long term goal. – Example: The goal is to lose 20lbs in 3 months. A short- term goal would be to lose 5 lbs in the first two weeks. ● Long-term goals are realistic but need time in order to be achieved. Short-term goals can be used to help accomplish the long-term goal. – Example: Long-term goal is to lose 20lbs in 3 months

Setting a Goal ● Pick a goal that is realistic – Can be accomplished and in a reasonable amount of time ● Pick a goal that is manageable – Can be broken down into smaller sub-goals ● Pick a goal which is measurable – Can tell if the goal has been reached ● Pick something that is meaningful – Something you really want to do. Not have to do.

Have you ever set a goal?

How to achieve goals ● Time Management- Better Time Management ● Make a Daily Schedule ● Prioritize your activities ● Make a calendar with all of your due dates ● Financial Goals- Save up for a new game ● Figure out how much you need to save ● Start a savings account ● Save consistently ● Prioritize spending ● Set a target date

AchievingAchieving Your GoalsYourGoals ● Start with a plan ● Put your goal in writing ● Have a positive attitude and don't be afraid to make mistakes ● Track your progress ● Have the mindset that if you don't reach your goal on the first time that it is not a failure ● Reward yourself for progress made towards your goal ● Identify areas that need further improvement ● Use your imagination

Now it's your turn! ● Think about a goal that you want to achieve! 1. Write the goal 2. Write the steps you will take to achieve the goal 3. List the obstacles you may encounter 4. Give a time frame to achieve the goal
