2. What exactly is a goal and why do people need to set goals?
My Answer or definition is:
Aims that one wants to
achieve.

3. Two Types of Goals
Long range goals are the aims for the future and it could take you a year or longer to achieve.
Short range goals are small steps that you can complete in a fairly short time such as weeks or months.

4. SMART SMART is two things 1st it’s a goal-setting strategy.
2nd it’s an acronym.

5. S = Specific M = Measurable A = Action Oriented R = Realistic
SMART
S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Action Oriented
R = Realistic
T = Timely

6. Be Specific when setting goals
What do you want?
What are you going to do?
Use words such as direct, organize, coordinate, lead, build, plan, develop, etc,..
Why is it important to do this?
Set a very specific clear and easy goal.

7. MEASURABLE
If you can’t measure your goal then you cannot manage your goal.
Choose a goal so you can see the change occur.
When you measure your progress, you stay on track.

8. Action Oriented
What measurements do you need to take in order to reach your goal?
In other words, what’s the plan or the steps needed to be successful.
Devise a plan.

9. Realistic Realistic means “do-able”.
You should have the skills or means needed to do the work in order to accomplish your goal.
It may push you a little but it shouldn’t break you.

10. Timely
Set a time frame for the goal: for next week, in three months, by the end of this semester.
Putting an end point on your goal gives you a clear target to work towards
If you don’t set a time, the commitment is too vague.

11. Challenge! So I’m challenging you to set a goal for this semester!
