Welcome to Ivy Tech Community College What is the next step after you are accepted to the college? You need to take the Accuplacer Placement Exam.

A computer-based assessment. Measures a level of readiness for college-level courses in the areas of Reading, English and Math. The results of the assessment are used by academic advisors to determine a student’s course selection. This is not a “pass” or “fail” placement test. What is the Accuplacer?

The Math Section EXAM STARTS HERE 12 Questions Elementary Algebra 17 Questions Arithmetic 20 Questions College Level Math OR

Elementary Algebra  Understanding a number line  Understanding algebraic terms and expressions  Using proportions to solve problems  Add, subtract, multiply, and divide negative numbers  Simplifying algebraic expressions  Multiplying binomials  Exponents  Combining like terms  Evaluating formulas  Square roots  Absolute Value  Solving equations  Order of Operations  Solving linear equations Contains 12 multiple choice questions. A calculator is provided by the computer on questions where its use would be beneficial. Expect to see the following concepts covered on this portion of the test:

Arithmetic Contains 17 questions and calculator is provided by the computer on questions where its use would be beneficial. Expect to see the following concepts covered on this portion of the test: Decimals Fractions Exponents, Order of Operations, Integers Ratios, Proportions, and Percents Expressions, Equations, Inequalities

College Level Math Contains 20 questions and test assesses from intermediate algebra through pre-calculus. Expect to see the following concepts covered on this portion of the test: Algebraic operations Solutions of equations and inequalities Coordinate geometry Functions and trigonometry Applications and other algebra topics ask about complex numbers, series and sequences, determinants, permutations and combinations, fractions, and word problems.

Students may click on the calculator icon and use the calculator to help solve that particular math problem. No other calculators, computer generated, handheld or otherwise are allowed. A proctor will provide the student with scrap paper to work out their solutions. Using the Online Calculator
