Funding Opportunities Career Seminar (twice a year) Special Funding (Showcase Sinclair) (once a year) Mini-Sabbatical (once annually) Learning Challenge Grant (no minimum) Course Revision (no minimum)

Things to keep in mind Eligible after one year of full-time employment (eligible in September 2016) Often requires Chair and Dean Support (all travel forms require signatures) Deadlines are important Completing paperwork correctly is required (IRS/Accounting) When in doubt, call the CTL with questions or review

Career Seminar Application Request for Travel Conference Registration Career Seminars Eligible for $100 every six months towards the cost of registration only Forms, including a travel request form are required (IRS) Be sure to pay attention to deadlines We can work with you and pay up to $200 once a year but call CTL to discuss Funding runs low beginning in March Request for Reimbursement w/receipt

Special Funding (Showcase Sinclair) Approved by CTL Director Must be presenting at a conference and listed in the program Funding is a limited source and often is used up by March (plan accordingly) Helpful when two people from same department are going to same conference Always a good idea to discuss with CTL Director prior to completing application Only one per academic year per person Application for Special Funding Request for Travel Conference Registration Supporting documentation Reimbursement Request w/receipts

Mini-sabbatical Deadlines are important (see guidelines and schedule) Only one person per department can be awarded for same conference (discuss with department chair) Must be related to CIT’s if you are a tenure-track faculty member (ACF can be funded but a detailed letter from chair must be included) Competitive process (only 50 a year are awarded) Committee decision Details in the Faculty Handbook Mini-Sabbatical application Request for Travel Conference Registration Supporting documentation Reimbursement Request w/receipts Mini-Sabbatical Guidelines

Learning Challenge Grants Typically advertised in January with a March deadline Grant emphasis changes yearly Awards have ranged from $500 to $15,000 to accomplish innovative pedagogical or curriculum projects. Can be used for very innovative technology but can’t be used to support an entire lab. Pilot projects for technology are encouraged. For example, nursing program piloted a test of iPods for nursing majors. Competitive process (CTL Advisory Committee and Provost Council) Budget dependent (dollar amount available changes each year) COURSE REVISIONING - Opportunities in last four years have also been part of this process, but again, depends on funding. This funding is not guaranteed to be included in every budget year. Grant application Support letter from Chair Final Report

Funds for Participating in CTL Winter and Summer Institutes Full-time faculty can earn up to $500 to $750 (budget dependent) each summer for participating in CTL Summer Programming. Full-time faculty are paid $50 for participating in a 3-hour workshop and $100 for a six-hour workshop. This funding opportunity is based on an agreement faculty have with the college for work (training) outside of the contract year. Workshop Roster Sign-In

Developing and Facilitating a Workshop Faculty are compensated to develop and facilitate workshops at a rate of $50 per workshop hour. To develop and facilitate a new 3-hour workshop earns a $300 payment; $150 for development and $150 for facilitation. Subsequent offerings of already developed workshops earns $50 per hour for facilitation. Access our online webinar on Good Workshop Design (12 MIN.) at CTL Workshop Proposal Form Special Services Agreement (if over $500) Special Services Payment Authorization
