Living Thing A thing having life; in actual existence

Nonliving Thing A thing that lacks or has stopped displaying the characteristics of life

Ecosystem All of the living and nonliving parts of an environment

Photosynthesis The process by which plants use light to produce food

Interaction The direct effect that one thing has on another

Habitat The place in an ecosystem where an organism lives.

Producer An organism that makes its own food

Consumer An organism that gets its food by eating other organisms

Food Chain The sequence that traces food energy in an ecosystem from producers to consumers.

Food Web A system of overlapping and connecting food chains in an ecosystem.
