Utilizing the CASPA Portal Recommended for :  CASPA participating Programs who screen applications electronically (“paperless”)  Programs with limited resources for software and/or tech support

Utilizing the CASPA Portal

Databases Databases are electronic filing systems that organize relational data with ease of entry and efficiency of retrieval Ideally, the data works for you - rather than you working for the data What are your database needs?

Databases Identifying needs and preferences:   What is it that you would like your database to do?   Is it simple to learn and easy to use?   Are your needs short term or long term?   How much data will you need to process or store?   How many people can use the database?   What kinds of reports would you like to see?   Can you make changes in your database if your needs change?   What are your resources for IT: support, time, platforms (PC, Mac), budget?

Utilizing what is already available Recommended for : Programs whose institutions already use large relational databases (such as PeopleSoft or Banner ) and have the tech support available to process applicant information

Utilizing what is already available Database does not need to be purchased Database does need to be programmed
