Session Holistic Transition: the journey from new student to confident graduate Tikus Little and Lorraine Wilson, University of Stirling

The presentation will cover the transition ‘staging posts’ integrated into overall programme design within the LLB and BA Law programmes at the University of Stirling. The design reflects that this is a transformational journey undertaken by students to reach the goal of becoming confident graduates, equipped with the Graduate Attributes required for the 21 st Century.

1 st Year - Induction Timetabled sessions for all LLB and BA in Law All personalities introduced Ice-breaking exercises Introduction to Legal skills Employability

2 nd Year – Commercial Awareness Module Credit bearing module Professional socialisation Team working, networking, business planning, marketing, finance, IT. Career planning homework Guest lectures Reflective practice

Law Work Placement Module “I have found this placement more useful than I thought it would be. It is definitely the most useful module I have done during my university life and would recommend as many students as possible do it. It has taught me so many new things and made me think and do so many things which I hope will benefit me in the future”. bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice for both LLB and BA in Law students. 30 hours in workplace CV building/enhancement Class-based tuition – presentation skills, reflective writing practice and workplace skills Academic rigour?
