Introduction The current project aims to create an electronic database of research, studies, journal articles, abstracts research, Omani specialized academic statistics, and innovation materials that were written or compiled in the Sultanate of Oman, and make it available through a single website. Mission Facilitate the access of Omani intellectual production Create an educational research environment Share resources between research and non-research institutions in the Sultanate of Oman To be a pioneer model both regionally and internationally for the provision and availability of free access sources Alsalmi 3

Importance. Raise the quality of research output by classifying and providing research, information and supporting statistics Encourage researchers in Oman to share their intellectual production and increase the level of awareness of scientific communication between researchers Alsalmi 4

Target groups. Higher education institutions, universities, technical colleges, education and research centers Government institutions Students, learners and researchers on post- graduate levels from inside and outside the Sultanate Specialists and experts in knowledge, technical and information fields Alsalmi 5

Policies: Open Access Policy Anyone who belongs to an institution should approve to get his/her scientific work available to the public Policy applies to all works in which the person is a major author or co-author No deletion amendment shall be applied unless official approval of the digital repository management Anyone of the targeted groups should deposit an electronic (soft) copy of their works to the repository Alsalmi 6

Content policy Omani theses and dissertations National and institutional surveys and researches Arab and Gulf research Global and regional research Books and research document School books Survey statistics Alsalmi 7

Content policy Government reports Technical data for the ministries Advisory works Omani manuscripts Innovations, inventions and Omani research patents Journals and research periodicals Conference proceedings held in the sultanate and conference papers which presented Omanis whether inside or outside the sultanate Alsalmi 8

Submission policy It includes the rights of authors, and determine the repository responsibilities The accuracy of the information and ownership is the responsibility of the author In cases when work is not owned or copyrighted by the institutions or the author, only the bibliographic data will be submitted (Citation) until the full rights are verified Alsalmi 9

Metadata policy Metadata is based on the Dublin Core standard Metadata can be reused in any other media without prior permission Alsalmi 10

Data policy Any person has the right to access the information and materials stored in the repository, without prior permission for research purposes as per intellectual property rights law The repository is not considered as a publisher or owner of all rights, yet it is as electronic archive of Omani research Alsalmi 11

Selection and retention policy All materials are deposited by the concerned digital repository management and they will remain permanently, except in the following cases: -If materials violate intellectual property rights law - These materials do not meet the necessary legal requirements - Established or created in away they cannot be loaded or saved Alsalmi 12

Replacement The applicant may apply for the replacement of a copy in the following cases: -There is an error in the content - Depositor version was not published, and thus the depositor wishes to deposit the published version Alsalmi 13

Withdrawal The copies are excluded from the digital repository only in case of intellectual property rights violation Withdrawal in case of third-party ownership rights violation (the publisher) Organizers of the digital repository has the right to keep or delete some materials for technical or administrative reasons and the depositor of such material shall be notified Alsalmi 14

Quality control The deposited material in digital repository represents the Sultanate of Oman and the research community, therefore it must be adhering to quality control of data Alsalmi 15

Preservation policy All materials will be stored in the repository for an indefinite period Alsalmi 16

Compliance and monitoring Checking the safety of deposited material with names checking Organizing intellectual property processes and ensure originality Alsalmi 17

Incentives Institution should make the deposit in the repository an element of promotions Connect the digital repository with awards and the deposit in the repository shall be an important criterion of being nominated for the award Material incentives and certificates of appreciation Alsalmi 18
