IMITATING GOD Are certain commands given by God merely “pies in the sky” or are we aiming too low?

BE PERFECT Matthew 5:48 – “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” 2 Cor. 12:9; Col. 1:28-29; 4:12; Jas. 1:2-4; Matt. 19:21; Phil. 3:12-14

WALK 1 John 2:6 – “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” Rom. 3:23; 6:4; 2 Cor. 5:17; Col. 3:10 John 13:15; 15:10; 1 Pet. 2:21-25

BE HOLY 1 Peter 1:13– Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” Lev. 11:44-45; 19:2; 20:7; Rom. 6:19-22; 12:1; 2 Cor. 7:1; Heb. 9:13-14; 10:10, 14; 13:12

LOVE YOUR WIVES Ephesians 5:25– Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 1 Cor. 13:1-3; Gal. 5:14; Matt. 5: Pet. 3:7; 1 John 4:11-12
