GIS Training/ Metadata Goals: Introduction to ArcGIS ~ Provide students with understanding of basic GIS concepts, terminology, and functionality of ArcGIS software during a two day ESRI-certified course. Coastal Applications Using ArcGIS ~ Provide students with an understanding of advanced GIS concepts and uses of ArcGIS software while demonstrating uses of coastal data sets to solve coastal-related problems. Assessing GIS for Your Organization ~ Provide students with an overview of basic GIS concepts, terminology, and applications without discussion of specific software packages. Metadata for Managers ~ Intended to provide an overview of geospatial metadata for mid- and upper-level management. Introduction to Geospatial Metadata ~ Provides students with working knowledge of the concepts behind geospatial metadata. Includes sections on working with the current federal metadata standard, as well as various tools for metadata creation and validation. Metadata Train the Trainer ~ A three-day workshop designed to teach others how to be an effective metadata trainer.

Internet Application Development ArcIMS template and functionality code base Customized Internet mapping template Builds upon core functionality Utilized in Center and partner projects Protecting Our Ports and Harbors Coastal Storms Initiative Raster Data Delivery Coastal Hazards GIS Interactive Tutorial: Ohio Case Study Historical Hurricanes Tracks Tool

NOS Data Explorer Offers access to many products, including bathymetry, coastal maps, environmental sensitivity index maps, aerial photographs, LIDAR Surveys, and more. Enterprise GIS: Managing NOS spatial data resources in a unified and coordinated manner so that internal and external clients can more easily access and use flagship NOS products. NOS Enterprise GIS

Shoreline Data Development Goal: Automate and rescue historic NOS shoreline maps and provide the public with accurate digital shoreline data for the entire United States Above Left: High-altitude aerial photography, Hudson River, NY. Above Right: Same area on a NOAA nautical chart. Map Examples: Comparing these sources, created at different times, provides information on the rate of change in the coastal Zone, which aids in the design of coastal zone mapping projects. Outcomes: Identified data gaps and priority areas for retrieval Shared data with NGS (National Geodetic Survey)
