Collins Musical Poetry Review Station #1: “Books”

Billy Collins Musical Poetry Review Station 1 Directions: 1. Read the poem “Books”. 2. In your group, answer the questions that follow it in complete sentences. 3. Each individual must have his/her own responses written down. Step 2  Answer the following questions by paraphrasing the question and incorporating a quote form the poem. Example: How does Collins show the importance of the library in stanza 1? Response: Collins describes the library as being the “heart” of the “dark, evacuated campus” showing that it is a central place on campus. Step 3  When the music starts, move to the next poetry station.

“Books” Questions 1. How does Collins show the library as a positive place to be in the first stanza? 2. Describe the figure Collins imagines in stanza two. 3. How does Collins show the pleasure of books in stanzas 4-5?
