Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

“Be anxious for nothing” Anxious – “1) to be anxious 1a) to be troubled with cares 2) to care for, look out for (a thing)” Does not mean we should have no cares at all  Work out our own salvation – Phil. 2:12  Care for one another – 1 Cor. 12:25  Care about the job we do – Eph. 6:5-6  Care about our family – Eph. 6:4

“The peace of God” The peace which God gives to those who have no anxious care because they commit all to Him.  “Perfect peace” – Isaiah 26:3-4  “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” – John 14:27

“Which surpasses all understanding” A peace beyond anything imaginable or produce by worldly means  Not found in materialism – 1 Tim. 6:17  Not found in friends – 2 Tim. 4:16-17  Not found in ourselves – Rom. 7:22-25

“Will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus ” “Guard” – military term, to garrison  God’s promise – 1 Peter 1:3-6
