Font size Don’t make your text too small. 24 point is usually the limit. 28 point or 32 point or 36 point is better. Important exception: references for content and images are ok discreetly placed at the bottom of the slide.

Testing for corneal abrasion Start by turning off the lights in the room. –Make the room as dark as possible. –Otherwise it will be difficult to see the abrasions light up when you use the cobalt blue light. Use a cobalt blue light to look for any abrasions. –Shine the light directly on the eye and look for any areas that fluoresce green –Make sure you lift the eyelids and have the patient look in all directions to make sure that you see as much of the cornea as possible. –If you see any fluorescing areas, those are corneal abrasions Store the cobalt blue light in the refrigerator when not in use. –This helps it to last longer.

Keep backgrounds simple and visual clutter to a minimum.

Dark room? Use a light background with dark font. (It doesn’t have to be black but be careful with red.)

Light room? Use a dark background with a light font. (early PowerPoint: white on blue)

Try not too leave too little open space on the slide…

Animation used wisely can help keep your audience’s attention. Especially when you have several connected ideas that would be overwhelming if presented all at once.

Remember: your audience can read faster than you can speak.

Make sure that your visual support is relevant. Pics of your family, pets, etc probably should be left to the end (if included at all).

Cartoons should be relevant to your content. Can perk up your audience Can distract your audience
