FACULTY OF MEDICINE UNIVERSITY OF MARIBOR BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGY Postgraduate study program (according to Bologna declaration)

is a brand new postgraduate program in Slovenia. It connects the naturalistically- technical knowledge with medicine. No such kind of postgraduate study existed so far in Slovenia. The presented program tries to connect technical sciences with medicine knowledge interdisciplinary. BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGY

is a program, that within the biomedical technology includes important branches from field of clinical medicine, biochemistry, chemistry and chemical technology, physics, mathematics, computing, robotics, electronics, etc. BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGY

Program will be implemented by: Members of University of Maribor: Faculty of Medicine; Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; Institute Jožef Štefan Ljubljana; Member of University of Ljubljana: Faculty of Pharmacy; Medicine University Graz; Harvard Medical School Harvard University Boston – Massachusetts USA; Institute Rudijer Boškovič Zagreb, etc.

Basic goal of the programme: education of specialists that will be capable to use and develop research methodology on chosen interdisciplinary field independently.

Postgraduate doctoral study programme “Biomedical technology” lasts 6 semesters (3 years) Study obligations of the whole programme are entirely in conformity with the law (ZViS, 36. in 37. article) and Measures of the Council of the Republic of Slovenia for higher education, evaluated by ECTS – European Credit Transfer System). This way the program can be directly included in International student exchange programme in countries that use ECTS system.

1st year: Obligatory subjects: Biomedical Informatics 10 ECTS Seminar I. 5 ECTS Individual research work – IRW 15 ECTS = 30 ECTS Six basic subjects where the student can chooses three subjects and gains 30 ECTS = 3 x 10 ECTS. 2st year: Candidate gains 15 ECTS from set of three Optional subjects (3 x 5), and 45 ECTS with IRW. 3rd year: Candidate gains 60 ECTS with IRW, that is assigned to making doctoral dissertation.
