There are also many poems about the ocean and the life of sailors and fisherman. One of the most famous English poems about life on the ocean is The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, which tells the story of an adventurous sea journey. It was written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge , an English poet,critic, philosopher, leader of the romantic movement, was born on October 21,1772, the son of a clergyman( 牧师 ). He studied in Cambridge, but left without a degree. Later he began a lifelong friendship with the poet William Wordsworth. His famous works are The Rime of the Ancient Mariner ( 老水手的故事 ), Kubla Khan( 忽必烈可汗 ) , etc
