Presentation transcript:

October 2012 Updates: More news from Hahgoot The Tooth fairy was busy at our home...

Hahgoot’s Snow White doll discovered she is famous... Hahgoot got some interesting hair accessories from her friend Deena

Hahgoot answered Grandpa Ido’s “little” letter

Hahgoot playing “teacher” and helping her students complete their worksheets

The vest and earphones are now a regular part of Hahgoot’s calming procedure. She finds reading and playing cards or with dolls helps her refocus as well.

Hahgoot and I spend some time every week with Deborah Plummer’s excellent book. Hahgoot helped me create “emotion people” and discussed ways to deal with emotions (right). I enjoyed reading this book, which is rightfully described as a “support group in your pocket”.

We had a trip to The Sensory Gym in Richmond (over an hour on two trains + 20 minutes walking) Hahgoot did a few more tests, such as Audio processing, co-ordination and a general assessment. It was a very expensive trip. After Alma fell asleep in the pram, I treated Hahgoot to a McDonalds meal for excellent behaviour and Alma enjoyed the toy when she woke up at home.

To deal with the weekend meltdowns, Alma helps me set up the living room as a soft OT play area...

... So when Hahgoot comes home on Friday afternoon they can both crash everywhere and take out the week’s tension.

A good way to improve Hahgoot’s thought connectivity was using the “story cubes” to make up random stories, and also improve her flexibility with shared story telling. Thanks Revital and Ilan for the gift!

Hahgoot drew a few sports themed drawings (top). She also initiated for the first time to practice her Hebrew spelling, after months of negativity on the topic.

Left: a few beginnings of stories by Hahgoot Left: planning a sleepover party Right: a monsters rollercoaster

Right: a class of ants with glasses studying about birds of pray (for them) Left: A parrot and an eagle over the trees In our next presentation: Social life for Hahgoot (and Alma too!)
