When Death Comes

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. Ecclesiastes 8:8 No one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, And no one has power in the day of death. There is no release from that war, And wickedness will not deliver those who are given to it. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment Death = Separation

Physical Death The spirit leaves the body. James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. 2 Peter 1:13-14 John 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Spiritual Death Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.

Spiritual Death Romans 6:16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Romans 7:5, 13 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death…13 Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.

Death Comes When: One becomes a Christian Romans 6:1-7 Galatians 2:20 Colossians 3:1-3 2 Corinthians 6:14-17

Death Comes When: A Christian sins James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. Luke 15:24, 32 ; Hebrews 10:26-27

1 John 3:4-8 (ESV) Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

Death Will Come When: Souls are lost in judgment. Revelation 20:12-15, 21:8 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
