Introduction  Application of sensor networks Battle field surveillance Environment monitoring Target tracking  We address a kind of sensor networks with static sensors mobile sinks and targets

Introduction sink target Source sensor

Protocol overview  Route update process will be activated when A sink moves out of the transmission range of its immediate upstream neighbor A target leaves the sensing range of one source sensor Immediate upstream node sink target Source sensor Immediate downstream node

ERUP Operation description  Route ReQuest (RRQ) Nr, Nn broadcast  Route ReVise (RRV) Nr sends to its neighbor Nr towards the fixed endpoint  Route RePly (RRP) Send back from the fixed endpoint to the mobile endpoint

Simulation  Simulator: OPNET 7.0  Transmission range 30m  Simulation time: 300s  Each source generates one data packet per second

Simulation Max speed: 2m/s One source-sink pair

Simulation

100 nodes 230m*200m

Conclusion  ERUP, an efficient route update protocol, provides energy-efficient and scalable routing with mobile targets or sinks  only sensors on the old route and some of the neighbor node close to the route are allowed to broadcast the query for a new route
