10 MILESTONES Milestones are descriptions of the abilities expected of a trainee or physician at a defined stage of professional development. PURPOSE Marking the progression of competence Defined targets to guide learning and assessment Can be used to develop benchmarks for progress or promotion

11 ENTRUSTABLE PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES (EPAS) ‘a critical part of professional work that can be identified as a unit to be entrusted to a trainee once sufficient competence has been reached’ (ten Cate, 2006)
