Presentation transcript:

Successes criteria : All will be able to: You need to have a definition of legislation, policies and procedures then sate which ones do you have to follow in any H&SC settings? You need to choose either a care home, nursery or health centre and state what health & safety legislation they have to adhere to? Pick 3 to 4 policies and 3-4 procedures and reflect these against the requirements of the legislation they have to follow? Include a conclusion section on how legislation can affect the delivery of care at any setting you have chosen to base your study on? Most will be able to: have a draft outline (will include all of the above) Some will be able to: will define the main points that includes secondary research (referenced) Do no forget to follow your guidance booklet to help you complete this criteria You will need to consider, in which format you will evidence your work? Learning Outcome: (P2) task 2 Part one Outline how legislation, policies and procedures relating to health, safety and security influence health and social care settings.

Policy's Procedures FireSomeone will be responsible to ensure that the Fire Policy and all staff training complies with HASAWA in order to provide a safe environment. The unit manager is to ensure GOOD HOUSE KEEPING is in force in their departments at all times and that these must be checked by staff. Unit management must limit the amount of combustible waste within their department and should be stored externally in a secure place. If the fire alarm is activated the manager in charge will print off the staff list and if is a real fire then given to the fire chief on request. Manual handling & Load Management This care home recognises the importance of ensuring good practice is maintained and is committed to ensure that its legal and professional responsibilities are upheld All staff must attend a Manual Handling of loads training on an annual basis. All new non- clinical staff or staff that work in a low risk area, must undergo training within the first month of employment.

Policy's Procedures Record KeepingThe importance of ensuring staff complete accurate documentation Pre- admission health assessment form is completed by the assessing person in charge before admission and allocated a number in the main register and given a care file This information will be only accessed by the relevant care involved with this client, and information either on written or computerised will be kept secured ConfidentialityConfidentiality is viewed very seriously and therefore ensures that all healthcare professionals and employees respect the confidentiality of all its clients. All staff should practice and refrain from disclosing such information without the consent of the resident/staff or person entitled to act on his /her behalf. Except where disclosure is required by law or by order of a court, or is necessary in the public interest. Staff should not remove any documents or written information pertaining to the organisation or clients without express permission of a senior management.

You need to give a clear, straightforward description with examples, that will include all the main points and links these together logically. Most will be able to: Outline a draft copy with at least six major points Some will be able to: will define the main points that includes secondary research (referenced) Do no forget to follow your guidance booklet to help you complete this criteria You will need to consider, in which format you will evidence your work? Learning Outcome:(M1) task 2 part 2 Describe how health and safety legislation, policies and procedures promote the safety of individuals in a health or social care setting.
