2009 Freshmen Class Profile (1077) participated in PRO this year - 1,120 Freshmen (estimate) - 29% (34%) are 1st generation - Average ACT: 27.4 (upper 10% in nation) - 82% (74%) plan to work while attending school - 24% (22%) have not chosen a specific major ( ) are last year’s numbers

Academic Expectations - 65% (67% ) plan to complete a BS in 4 years or < - 24% (24%) plan to complete a BS in 5 years - 9% (8%) plan to complete a BS in 6 + years (average time to graduation – 4.7 years) - 25% (22%) plan to go to graduate school

Academic Expectations By the end of the first year at S&T students expect to fall in the following GPA ranges: 47.5% (51%) % (44%) % (5%) % (0) 2.49 or less ( average UG GPA is 2.93 at graduation) % (44%) plan to study more than 11 hours per week at Missouri S&T -84% (76%) studied less than 5 hours per week in high school
