 Rhine is 820 miles- middle of Europe to North Sea  Danube runs west to east across Europe (9 countries)  Rivers= highways  Transportation, spread of goods, ideas, etc

 Natural Resources: Iron and coal BUT WHAT IF YOU DON’T HAVE THOSE?

 Land reclaimed by diking and draining (pg 282)

 Seaworks: structures used to limit the sea’s negative impact on human life  Terpen: high platforms- provide places to go for safely during floods
