 Based on the core minimum knowledge and skill set that are appropriate for safe, competent and ethical dietetics practice as defined by the ICDEP  Designed on an accreditation framework: contains Standards statement, Criteria, Elaboration, Documentation Required.  Designed to measure educational processes and reflect outcome based standards

 Include evaluation of academic and internship/practicum programs within a combined and progressive standards set  Written in a user-friendly manner, include definitions of terms as needed to provide clarity, does not contain wording that is ambiguous. Includes criteria that can be evaluated by evidence; offers clear evidence expectations (documentation required) to support site review & surveyor evaluation

 Flexible enough to respond to changes in the education, practice or regulatory Environment  Include consultation phases that seek feedback/input from relevant stakeholder  groups  Evaluate both academic and internship/practicum programs using explicit standards recognized by provincial regulatory authorities as the national standard

 Consultation report posted on PDEP website  Consultant hired to facilitate finalization of Standards document  Accreditation Standards Development Working Group considers areas needing further consideration and makes recommendation to PDEP SC for changes required (September 2013)  PDEP SC approves Accreditation Standards  Pilot site review based on new Standards (2014)
