Socialism - Socialism is an economic concept that advocates public ownership of all resources. - The production and distribution of resources with a society are then controlled by members of that society collectively or by the government that represents that society. - Goods are produced and distributed based on need rather than on market forces such as profitability, price and consumers' purchasing power. - In a socialist economy, workers contribute to society based on their ability and receive according to their needs, rather than being paid wages and using that money to purchase what they want. - Private possessions are limited to personal-use items such as clothes, and there is no need or ability for individuals to accumulate wealth, believing that there will be equality among the people. - http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is- socialism.htm#didyouknowout

Communism - Communism is a political and economic system in which the major productive resources in a society (all jobs, stores, banks, houses, mines, factories, and farms) are owned by the government - It is a more advanced and control version of socialism - Usually people agree to Communism thinking that the people will hold power due to equality, in reality the government holds total control over the people - Wealth is divided among citizens equally or according to individual need. - Created by the 19th-century revolutionist Karl Marx - After the Bolshevik & October Revolutions in 1918, Vladimir Lenin’s new Communist Party assumes control of Russia. http://kids.britannica.com/comptons/article-9273756/communism

Democracy & Capitalism - Democracy by definition means the government by people and was created by the Greeks over 3000 years ago. - Believes that all the people should be able to have their say in one way or another in everything that affects their lives. - Issues are voted on and the majority decision wins - Capitalism: An economic system that features private ownership of the means of production (such as factories, offices, and shipping enterprises) and in which market forces determine the way in which goods are produced and the means by which income and profit are distributed is called capitalism. www.whatisdemocracy.net/

Theocracy - The term "theocracy" comes from the Greek word theokratia, which is a compound word that combines theos, which means "god," and kratein, which means "to rule." - A theocracy, therefore, is a form of government in which rule is directed by the belief in a god or by certain religious beliefs. - It might also be the case that the head of a theocratic government is the head of a specific religion, as in the case of Vatican City. - Theocratic rulers are guided specifically by their religious beliefs and might see themselves as emissaries of their god who are meant to rule their people. - http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-a-theocracy.htm

Fascism - Created in 1919 by Benito Mussolini (ruler of Italy) and expanded by Adolf Hitler (ruler of Germany) - Fascists believe that the strength of the country is more important than the rights of the people. - Their leaders rule as dictators and use violence and modern techniques of propaganda and censorship to forcibly suppress political opposition, engages in severe economic and social regimentation - Fascists embrace nationalism and sometimes racism (ethnic nationalism). Nazism is usually considered as a kind of fascism. - Politically speaking it is the opposite of socialism. - http://encyclopedia.kids.net.au/page/fa/Fascism
