Fushun

At first glance, the only thing striking about Fushun is its utter ordinariness. It is just a small town in a small county in Sichuan province in southwest China; three hours or so by bus from the hinterland cities of Chengdu or Chongqing.

Fushun has a very small population of 255 people which has decreased in the last year due to the volcano that Fushun is next door to. The people are taking a slight risk for the repayment. The repayment being very good farming ground because Volcanic rocks are rich in minerals, but when the rocks are fresh the minerals are not available to plants. The rocks need thousands of years to become weathered and broken down before they form rich soils. When they do become soils though, they form some of the richest ones on the planet. Places such as the African Rift Valley, Mt Elgon in Uganda, and the slopes of Vesuvius in Italy all have productive soils thanks to the breaking down of volcanic rocks and ash. The Naples area, which includes Mount Vesuvius, has such rich soils thanks to two large eruptions 35,000 and years ago. Both eruptions produced very thick deposits of ash and broken rocks which have weathered to rich soils. Today, the area is intensively cultivated and produces grapes, vegetables, orange and lemon trees, herbs, flowers and has become a major tomato growing region.

Fushun community don’t like to go away from the originally guidelines and way of life and stick to it with only marginal change.

Originally The original culture is very much hands on and a lot traditional rules

Change The minor change they have made is machinery to make things easier and the rules are more lenient the new era.

Overall the Fushun community lives a very simple and efficient life with small changers for the better without going astray. Fushun is a has beautiful scenery and culture.
