“My Lord! Increase me in knowledge!" - Qur'an 20:114 MAJOR SIGNS OF THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT

Presented by: SUHAIL WAHAB KAHLIL MOHSIN HUSSAIN MUHAMMAD FARHAN WAQAR AYUB Students, BS(VS) 1st Semester (2009-10)

The major signs before the day of judgement told in Quran and Hadith are: Advent of Imam Mehdi (RA) Advent of Dajjal. Return of Issa (AS) Appearance of Yajuj Majuj Appearance of smoke. Caving in of Earth. The rising of the sun from the west. Appearance of the Beast form Safa. A wind will take the souls of the believers. Rule of Blacks and the destruction of the Ka'bah. A fire will drive the people to their last gathering place Shaam. The Trumpet will be sounded.

(1) Advent of Imam Mehdi (RA) After the lesser signs of the Hour appear and increase, mankind will have reached a stage of great suffering. Then the awaited Mahdee(ra) will appear; he is the first of the greater, and clear, signs of the Hour. There will be no doubt about his existence, but this will only be clear to the knowledgeable people. The Mahdee (ra)will rule until the False Messiah (al-Maseeh ad-Dajjaal) appears, he is one of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs and Imaams.

(2) Advent of Dajjal. False Messiah (al-Maseeh ad-Dajjaal) will appear, who will spread oppression and corruption. The only ones who will know him well and avoid his evil will be those who have great knowledge and Eemaan (faith). The false Messiah will remain for a while, destroying mankind completely, and the earth will witness the greatest Fitnah (tribulation) in its history. Then the Messiah Jesus (alayhi salam) will descend, bringing justice from heaven. He will kill the Dajjaal, and there will be years of safety and security.

(3) Return of Issa (AS) Jesus will descend at the point of a white arcade, east of Damascus, dressed in yellow robes. He will then join the Mahdi (RA) in his war against the Dajjal. Eventually, Jesus will slay the Dajjal, and then everyone from the ahl al-kitāb, (referring to Jews and Christians) will believe in him. After the death of the Mahdi, Jesus will assume leadership. There will be universal peace and justice. Jesus' rule is said to be around forty years, after which he will die. Muslims will then perform the funeral prayer for him and then bury him in the city of Medina in a grave left vacant beside Muhammad(saaw), Abu Bakr, and Umar(RA).

(4) Appearance of Yajuj Majuj Ya'juj and Ma’juj (known also as Gog and Magog), will spread and cause disturbance on earth. Many thousands of years ago the barbarous tribes of Yajuj and Ma'juj were imprisoned behind an iron wall built by Zulqarnayn. God, in response to Jesus' prayers, will kill them by sending a type of worm in the napes of their necks.

(5) Appearance of smoke. Smoke will rise and cover the whole world. The smoke will affect both the believers and non-believers alike remaining for a period of 40 days and night. The believers will be affected a little as if suffering from cold while the smoke will enter the brains of the non-believers and make them unconscious.

(6) Caving in of Earth/Landslides. There will be three landslides before Qiyamah like never seen before. One in the East, one in the West and one in Arabia. The Earth will swallow everything above it and as a result, many people will die. This will take place when evil prevails.

(7) The rising of the sun from the west. The rising of the sun from the west will be of great disturbance to nature and will shake the mind of every man and awaken him to see for himself the great power of Allah. At this time the belief of the unseen will lose its importance. Once the sun has risen from the west the door of repentance will be closed and will remain closed until the Day of Judgment.

(8) Appearance of the Beast form Safa. When disintegration, corruption, kufr and evil prevail, commands of Allah are ignored, the Deen changed and made a mockery of, it is then Allah will take out the Beast from the earth. The task of the Beast will be to distinguish the believers from the non-believers, with Prophet Moosa's(as) staff it will draw a line on the forehead of every believer whereby his face will become bright and luminous and with the ring of Sulaman(as) it will seal the nose of every non-believer where by his whole face will become black. Thus there will be complete distinction between the Muslim and non-Muslim. The Beast will also talk to people and disappear finally.

(9) wind taking the souls of the believers. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF APPEARANCE OF THE Beast, a cold and pleasant wind will come from the south, which will cause some disease in the armpits of the Muslims and all the Muslims will die. Now no Muslim will be left on the earth and everywhere evil will prevail.

(10) Rule of Blacks and destruction of Ka'bah. After the death of muslims, the rule all over the world would be taken by non-muslim blacks; Quran will be taken up by Allah from papers and memories; hajj will be stopped. At that time a small limbed man from Ethopia will destroy the holy Ka’aba.

(11) The Big Fire. The last major sign to appear before the Day of Judgment is the fire which will come out from the Yemen and gather the people in the place of their assembly.

(12) Sounding of the Trumpet. After the appearance of all the above mentioned signs, on 10th Muharram, Friday, the hour will get started all of a sudden. The hour will start on sounding of Trumpet by Hadrat Israfeel(as) who has been assigned the duty of sounding the trumpet by Allah. The sound will be lighter in the start and will get grievous later. All the living beings will die in result of the sound of trumpet and earth and sky will destroy. after 40 years the trumpet will be sounded again and all the living beings will get up again and day of judgment will start.

Refrences Signs before the day of judgment, Alamaat-e-qayamat, by Al-Haafidh Ibn Katheer Hadeeth. Alamaat-e-qayamat, by Mufti Rafee Usmani. Signs of the last day, by Haroon Yahya.

Thank You for being with us. The End.
