THE ANSWERS!!!!

1.Data collected by Hubble have helped scientists make important discoveries about the universe. What are two of the discoveries? Gathered info that is 13.7 billion yrs old Discovered expansion of universe is speeding up Expansion caused by “dark energy”

2. What is dark energy and what do scientists know about it? The force that is opposite to gravity Makes things travel apart from one another.

3. Why had NASA originally planned to stop servicing Hubble? Why did they change their minds? After Columbia suffered a fatal disaster in 2003 Thought it would be too dangerous Determined repairs could be done safely, so NASA officials decided to extend Hubble’s lifetime.

4. What will astronauts do on the upcoming Hubble mission? Install new batteries and gyroscopes Install a new camera and spectrograph Also, will repair two instruments currently not working.

5. Explain the meaning of this statement: The images seen by space telescopes actually what occurred a long time ago. It can take billions of yrs for light to travel from distant galaxies to Earth and to Hubble. Because of this, the images seen are actually from long ago.
