Google Lit Trip of the story By: Maya Sanders

The Carnival Quote: "All carnivals stop after Labor Day" (Bradbury 28). "Maybe the carnival likes accidents, gets a kick out of them"(Bradbury 134). Importance: This place is important, because William and Jim meet Mr. Dark, Mr. Cooger, and the freaks. There life changes once they set foot on the carnival/s ground. All the action happens at the carnival. Events: This is the place where Will becomes stronger. Will, Jim, and Charles (Will's dad) start to have a bond and trust each other. Will and Jim find the Carousel that lets them become older or younger at anytime. They save Miss Foley life here and her nephew is not who he says he is. The nephew is really Mr. Cooger.

The Library Quote: “Those are the same initials as on the throwaways around town this week. But — it couldn’t be the same men...”( Bradbury 161). “The library, then, at seven-fifteen, seven-thirty, seven-forty-five of a Sunday night, cloistered with great drifts of silence and transfixed avalanche of books poised like the cuneiform stones of eternity on shelves, so high the unseen snows of time fell all year there" (Bradbury 157). Importance: Charles, Will's dad, finds out who Mr. Dark and Mr. Cooger really is. He also finds out a way to defeat the freaks. Charles convinces the boys that they need to face their fears, and he finds out what his importance of life really is for. Events: This is the place where Jim and Will get caught. They are placed under a spell to do anything Mr. Dark says. Charles gets his hand broken here and he almost dies here as well. Charles ends up surviving, because he finds out laughing is the key to defeat the freaks.

The Freak Tent Quote: “Then at last, the Freak Tent, the great melancholy mothering reptile bird”(Bradbury 232). Importance: The freaks perform in the tent at night. There true colors really come out when no body is there. Events: The boys bring the police to the tent, because they think that Mr. Cooger is dying so they want to save him. When the boys are under the spell, they are trapped in the back of the tent with the wax dolls. Charles kills the witch with his son and breaks the boys spell.

Miss Foley's House Quote: “Nephew, heck! Keep your head away. Maybe he can read lips. Walk slow. To the corner and back" (Bradbury 70). “Will sighed and let himself be walked up the steps wanting but not wanting to know if the boy in this house had Mr. Cooger hid but showing like a firefly between"(Bradbury 71). Importance: This is the boys' teacher's house. This is where Mr. Cooger hides as Miss Foley's nephew, because he needs somewhere to sleep. Events: The boys meet Miss Foley's nephew. Will and Jim start to fight in the yard and the nephew comes outside and throws jewels on the boys to make it seem like they were stealing from Miss Foley.

The Boys' House Quote: “By their voices, the boys had told the tale all their lives, proud of their mothers, living house next to house"(Bradbury 9). Importance: Jim and Will live right next door to each other. They do everything with each other no matter what. Events: Jim and Will meet the seller of lighten-rods. Will and Jim also sneaks out to see what the whistling noise is at 3am, and heard music that played the "Death March" which was coming from the carnival train. Will fights the witch, because the witch put goo on Jim's house to remember which house to find the boys at. Will and his dad has a moment together and talk things out in front of the house.

The Carousel Quote: “The carousel wheeled, a great back-drifting lunar dream the horses thrusting, the music in-gasped after, while Mr. Cooger, as simple as shadows, as simple as light, as simple as time, got younger. And younger. And younger" (Bradbury 67). “A black shadow on the shuddering machine tried to stagger up, but it was late, late, later still, very late, latest of all, oh, very late. The shadow crumbled. The carousel, like the earth spinning, whipped away air, sunlight, sense and sensibility, leaving only dark, cold, and age"(Bradbury 88). Importance: The carousel lets people become younger or older anytime they want to. It's the main reason why Mr. Dark and Mr. Cooger has a carnival for all those years. Events: Mr. Cooger turns into a little boy and turns into Miss Foley's nephew. He also turns to an old man and ends up dying for being so old which he turns into dust. Jim gets on the carousel, because he is being controlled by Mr.Dark's spell. Jim almost dies, but Charles tell Will that the only way to defeat the freaks is to be happy and seem like they are having fun. Will, Jim, and Charles think about going around to see if their lives would change, but they decide that their life is already good how it is. Miss Foley end up getting on the carousel and becomes a little girl.

Mirror Maze Quote:“I'd of drowned! I mean...oh, Will you were right! My God, did you see her, she’s lost, drowned in there, poor girl!. oh the poor lost sweet...save her, oh, we must save her" (Bradbury 55)! “But he did not like their look. They were so old, so very old, and got much older the farther away they marched, wildly gesticulating, as Dad threw up his hands to fend off the revelation, this wild image repeated to insanity"(Bradbury 212). Importance: The maze is suppose to kill people. Thy either make you look older and drain your age out of you, or you get lost in the maze forever. Events: Miss Foley was saved by Will and Jim. Charles confronted the mirrors and saved himself. Jim was going go in the maze to see what happens, but will convinced him not to.
