The issue of radicalisation and countering violent extremism has increasingly become a priority for every EU Member State Repressive measures are no longer sufficient and a new strategy based more on prevention needs to be adopted Efforts to promote disengagement from violence and extremism will be more effective if they build on existing structures for crime prevention and rehabilitation This project will address the issue of juvenile radicalisation in detention, within and outside the prison system, through the sharing of knowledge and good practices between judicial professionals and actors of several EU member states Co-funded by the Criminal Justice Programme of the European Union Context

The project aims at allowing judges, policy-makers and legal practitioners to be trained and exchange views on effective intervention, management and sentencing practices regarding the prevention of radicalisation in detention, as well as the alternatives to detention and the development of effective de- radicalisation programmes for youngsters in EU Member States Objectives Co-funded by the Criminal Justice Programme of the European Union

The project will be focused on three themes: The prevention of radicalisation in detention Tertiary prevention and reinsertion De-radicalisation processes through alternatives to detention, including community and family based approaches to de-radicalisation Co-funded by the Criminal Justice Programme of the European Union
