WELCOME SENTENCE OF THE DAY Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. Acts 16.31

OPENING HYMN

OH HOW GOOD IT IS Oh how good it is when the family of God dwells together in spirit in faith and unity. Where the bonds of peace, of acceptance and love are the fruit of His presence here among us. So with one voice we’ll sing to the Lord and with one heart we’ll live out His word till the whole earth sees the Redeemer has come for He dwells in the presence of His people.

Oh how good it is on this journey we share to rejoice with the happy and weep with those who mourn. for the weak find strength the afflicted find grace when we offer the blessing of belonging. So with one voice we’ll sing to the Lord and with one heart we’ll live out His word till the whole earth sees the Redeemer has come for He dwells in the presence of His people.

Oh how good it is to embrace His command to prefer one another forgive as He forgives. When we live as one we all share in the love of the Son with the Father and the Spirit. So with one voice we’ll sing to the Lord and with one heart we’ll live out His word till the whole earth sees the Redeemer has come for He dwells in the presence of His people. By Keith and Kristyn Getty

‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’

Christ has entered heaven itself, there to appear before God on our behalf. Let us therefore draw near in full assurance of faith, and confess our sins to the God of grace.

Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have failed to do: we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us. Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Almighty God, whose blessed Son before his passion prayed for his disciples that they might be one, as you and he are one: grant that your Church, being bound together in love and obedience to you, may be united in one body by the one Spirit, that the world may believe in him whom you have sent, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Psalm 97 Page 324

1 The Lord is king; let the earth rejoice: let the multitude of islands be glad. 2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. 3 Fire goes before him: and burns up his enemies on every side. 4 His lightnings light the world: the earth sees it and quakes. 5 The mountains melt like wax before his face:

from before the face of the Lord of all the earth. 6 The heavens have proclaimed his righteousness: and all peoples have seen his glory. 7 They are ashamed, all those who serve idols and glory in mere nothings: all gods bow down before him. 8 Zion heard and was glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoiced: because of your judgements, O God.

9 For you, Lord, are most high over all the earth: you are exalted far above all gods. 10 The Lord loves those that hate evil: the Lord guards the life of the faithful, and delivers them from the hand of the ungodly. 11 Light dawns for the righteous: and joy for the true of heart. 12 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous: and give thanks to his holy name.

SPEAK O LORD Speak O Lord as we come to you to receive the food, of Your Holy word. Take Your Truth, plant it deep in us shape and fashion us in Your likeness; that the light of Christ might be seen today in our acts of love and our deeds of faith. Speak, O Lord, and fulfil in us all Your purposes for Your glory

Teach us, Lord, full obedience, Holy reverence, true humility. Test our thoughts and our attitudes in the radiance of Your purity. Cause our faith to rise, cause our eyes to see. Your majestic love and authority. Words of power that can never fail; let their truth prevail over unbelief.

Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds; Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us. Truths unchanged from the dawn of time that will echo down through eternity. And by grace we’ll stand on Your promises; and by faith we’ll walk as You walk with us. Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built and the earth is filled with Your glory. Keith Getty and Stuart Townend.

A Reading from John Chapter 17, Verses Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ For the Gospel of the Lord, Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

SERMON

Let us together affirm the faith of the Church: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Accept our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

Jesus said: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. John 13.34

O HOLY SPIRIT BREATHE ON ME O HOLY SPIRIT BREATHE ON ME O Holy Spirit breathe on me, O Holy Spirit breathe on me, and cleanse away my sins, fill me with love within: 0 Holy Spirit breathe on me! O Holy Spirit fill my life, O Holy Spirit fill my life, take all my pride from me, give me humility: O Holy Spirit breathe on me!

O Holy Spirit, make me new, O Holy Spirit, make me new, make Jesus real to me, give me His purity: O Holy Spirit breathe on me! O Holy Spirit, wind of God, O Holy Spirit, wind of God, give me Your power today, to live for You always: O Holy Spirit breathe on me! © Norman Warren /Jubilate Hymns CCLI: 61732

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have these gifts to share. Accept and use our offerings for your Glory And for the service of your kingdom. Blessed be God for ever.

We give you thanks and praise for your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, who by the power of your Spirit was born of Mary and lived as one of us. By his death on the cross and rising to new life, he offered the one true sacrifice for sin and obtained an eternal deliverance for his people. You have highly exalted him, and given him the name which is above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we proclaim your great and glorious name, for ever praising you and saying: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Holy God, we thank you for these gifts of your creation, this bread and wine, and we pray that we who eat and drink

them in obedience to our Saviour Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, may be partakers of his body and blood, and be made one with him and with each other in peace and love. On the night he was betrayed Jesus took bread; and when he had given you thanks he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take, eat. This is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’

After supper, he took the cup, and again giving you thanks he gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.‘ Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Therefore we do as our Saviour has commanded: proclaiming his offering of himself made once for all upon the cross, his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension, and looking for his coming again, we celebrate, with this bread and this cup, his one perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. As we eat and drink this holy sacrament, renew us by your Spirit that we may be united in the body of your Son and serve you as a royal priesthood in the joy of your eternal kingdom.

Receive our praises, Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord, with whom and in whom, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we worship you in songs of never-ending praise: Blessing and honour and glory and power are yours for ever and ever. Amen.

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

The gifts of God for the people of God. Come let us take this holy sacrament of the body and blood of Christ in remembrance that he died for us, and feed on him in our hearts by faith with thanksgiving.

Behold the lamb who bears our sins away Slain for us-and we remember the promise made that all who come in faith find forgiveness at the cross. So we share in this bread of life, and we drink of his sacrifice as a sign of our bonds of peace around the table of the King

The body of our Saviour Jesus Christ, torn for you- eat and remember; the wounds that heal, the death that brings us life paid the price to make us one. So we share in this bread of life, and we drink of his sacrifice as a sign of our bonds of love around the table of the King.

The blood that cleanses every stain of sin, shed for you- drink and remember He drained death’s cup that all may enter in to receive the life of God. So we share in this bread of life, and we drink of his sacrifice as a sign of our bonds of grace around the table of the King.

And so with thank-ful-ness and faith we rise to respond- and to remember our call to follow in the steps of Christ as His body here on earth. As we share in His suffering, we proclaim Christ will come again! And we’ll join in the feast of heav’n around the table of the King. Words and music written by Keith & Kristyn Getty and Stuart Townend (c)2006 Thankyou Music.

God of glory you sent your Son Jesus Christ into the world to preach the gospel of the kingdom. Strengthen us who share this meal to continue his mission by living the good news we proclaim.

Most loving God, you send us into the world you love. Give us grace to go thankfully and with courage in the power of your Spirit.

Christ our exalted king pour upon you his abundant gifts and bring you to reign with him in glory; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen.

TRUST AND OBEY When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word, what a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, he abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies, but His smile quickly drives it away; not a doubt nor a fear, not a sigh nor a tear, can abide while we trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, but our toil He doth richly repay; not a grief nor a loss, not a frown nor a cross, but is blest if we trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love, until all on the altar we lay; for the favour He shows, and the joy He bestows are for them who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet, we will sit at His feet, or we’ll walk by His side in the way. What He says we will do, where He sends we will go, never fear, only trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. J H Sammis ( ) CCLI: 61732
