General Guidelines to Follow to Be Successful

“Dress for Success” Clothes should fit properly Not to tight Not to short Should be clean and pressed

Hair & Make-Up You are a walking advertisement for your services You are a reflection of your Work Make sure you hair is styled and your make-up is on when you are Working Facial hair on men needs to be properly groomed

Hygiene Try not to overload on perfume or heavy fragrances These can be distracting or irritating to people around you Remember that you are in very close contact with people everyday

Dress Code Guidelines One of the number one complaints/frustrations salon owners have is getting their staff to follow the image guidelines Start now by following the school dress code The purpose of dress code is to create clear guidelines that will make your decision making process easy Dress codes are not meant to squash your creativity, but rather provide consistency that helps guests feel more comfortable

Appropriate Conversation Conversations should be kept light. When with a guest try to focus on product knowledge or styling tips Topics that should be avoided are Politics Religion Gossip Try not to make the conversation “all about you”

Address Have an account with a simple address such as your first initial and last name Ex: If you want people to take you serious you must have an appropriate account name that is clean and simple

Social Networking Facebook or Twitter are a great way to network and make connections within your industry. Make sure that your profile doesn’t say ANYTHING you wouldn’t want a boss or would-be boss to see Always keep in mind that potential employers may find your online profile and make judgments

Good Manners Arrive on time everyday Don’t chew gum Do NOT have your cell phone on *Remember that it is all the little things that count Should always Give good eye contact Stand up straight Show confidence Have a firm handshake Show interest Have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE!
