1 Good Shepherd Parish Pastoral Plan Background: In March 2012, the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) began developing a pastoral plan. In consultation with Dr. Bernie Swain, an experienced advisor to parish planning, and through feedback collected from parishioners, the PPC has defined a vision for our future, defined our key priorities for the next few years and developed a robust plan which is now moving into an execution phase. In , the PPC updated and expanded the Plan, as noted in two new goals (on the lower right) This plan sets a clear vision for Good Shepherd Parish (GSP) and a framework for future pastoral planning activities as updates occur with the Archdiocese planning processes. Priorities:  Major emphasis on evangelization  Commitment to service  Broad effort in communication  Commitment to financial health and well-maintained properties  Growth in both parish membership and spiritual development  Continued vibrancy in worship, spiritual life, and an emphasis on personal faith formation  Development of a broader, deeper leadership core For the next phase of the Pastoral Plan, the PPC has identified two areas that have not yet been addressed and merit special attention: Leadership and Spiritual Development (in bold below). Goals for Key Priorities: If you are interested in learning more about how you can help, please contact us for more information. Our Parish Mission: We, the Roman Catholic community of Good Shepherd Parish, strive to be a living sign of Christ's love in and for the world. In response to our Baptismal call, nourished by the Eucharist and guided by the values of the Second Vatican Council, we seek to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by welcoming, supporting and guiding all through prayer, sacramental celebration, service and education.“ Our Vision:  A committed and growing parish community, dedicated in the new evangelization of Catholics and non-Catholics alike, warmly bringing them the message of Jesus Christ through our lives and words.  A flourishing, financially healthily parish with two well-maintained, properties with well-coordinated and technologically advanced communications.  A community with a thriving service stewardship demonstrated by works of love, providing material, emotional and spiritual assistance.  A parish engaged in vibrant liturgies and small faith formation groups that deepen our worship and spiritual life. Communication Evangelization Service Finance  Improve by 40% the awareness among those who attend Mass of what is happening within our parish.  Increase the number of parishioners who are identified as participants in a “service ministry” by 50%.  To establish a long-term financial plan that provides the resources necessary for our desired future financial health.  To increase evangelization and faith activity by 25% in the entire Parish.  Form an Evangelization Committee and build a program. Ver. June 2016 Leadership  To develop a process to strengthen the lay leaders and leadership structure of the parish to ensure the continuation of ministries that promote the mission of the parish by June Spiritual Development  To ignite and strengthen the spiritual formation of parishioners by June 2017.
