What is a related record? A related record is one record that is linked to another record. There is always a family tree-type hierarchy with a parent and child. 5.3 Relating and Cloning Records There can be multiple records related to one another. Related records are typically used for one project that covers multiple disciplines. Related records can also be used to track and manage other pieces of a project, like Deferred Submittals, Plan Revisions, and the Temp C of O.

How are related records created? Related records can be created in the following ways: Manual Methods  Using the Related Records portlet to create new records using the Clone feature  Using the Related Records portlet to relate existing records Automatic Methods  On the SPEAR form, using the ADDITIONAL RECORDS ASI table  Using the ADDITIONAL RECORDS ASI table after the parent record is created  Workflow status changes for only select record types  Revisions  Temp C of O 5.3 Relating and Cloning Records

Phased Projects Functionality has been built into Omega to handle phased projects. A phased project could include a commercial building that is phased from the ground up with the foundation being a phase and the shell being another phase. Another phased project could include a commercial building that is phased based on wings of the building where the west wing is a phase and the east wing is another phase. 5.3 Relating and Cloning Records
