The fun little “tail” of Tony’s fishy school and what he learns.

Journal Day 1 Tony Today was the first day of school and I had a blast. Everyone loved me because I was smart and payed attention. We learned about water and all of its purposes, like how water is a universal solvent meaning water dissolves more substances than any other liquid.

Journal Day 2 Water Cycle Yeh its me tony, I learned about this thing called the water cycle. Apparently, when the sun comes out, it evaporates the water where I live and brings it up to the clouds where after days, it rains and the cycle starts over again.

Journal Day 3 My friend Lenny Today the teacher took us on a field trip where we went to the reef and he told us to jump out of the water and make a big splash and asked us if it made any bubbles and if it stuck to us..that is called adhesion.

Journal Day 3 Shark Today I saw a shark jump out of the water and the water stuck together and formed droplets that fell back into the ocean. My teacher told me that that was called Cohesion.

Journal Day 4 The graph he showed us Today in science class we learned about water’s specific heat meaning the amount of energy needed to heat 1 gram of a substance by 1 degree Celsius. He showed us a graph to help us understand specific heat better.

Journal Day 5 The plant I saw I was swimming to school today and I saw a plant that was growing out of the ocean. From what I learned in class, I knew that the water was rising up the plant and to the leaves above the water due to capillary action.

Journal Day 6 The hydrogen bond I drew We had a sub today in class. Nothing comes good out of those fishes. But surprisingly they taught me that hydrogen bonds for easily and are weak with very little energy needed to break them. They made us draw a diagram of what we think hydrogen bonds look like. I got an A.

Journal Day 7 The bug we saw! I was eating lunch on a lily pad with all my fishy friends when a bug came along and we saw him float on top of the water. My smart fish friend Rachel told us that he is able to float on the water because of surface tension. I learn something new everyday!

Journal Day 8 Today I was swimming back from school and I saw a swimmer in a suit. My teacher said the next day that they were swimming in a polar substance, that substance being the water. That is called Polarity.
