Where is Haiti located? Haiti, officially the Republic of Haiti is a Caribbean country. Along with the Dominican Republic, it occupies the island of Hispaniola, in the Greater Antillean archipelago. Ayiti (land of high mountains) was the indigenous Taíno or Amerindian name for the mountainous western side of the island. The total area of Haiti is 27,750 square kilometers and its capital is Port-au-Prince. French and Haitian Creole are the official languages.

Flag, Motto, Anthem: The motto is "L'Union Fait La Force" (French) It means “Unity Creates Strength.” The national Anthem is La Dessalinienne The official languages are Haitian-Creole and English.

Sports: Football, or soccer in America, is the most popular sport in Haiti, though basketball is growing in popularity. Hundreds of small football clubs compete at the local level.

Government and Politics: The government of Haiti is a semi-presidential republic, a multiparty system wherein the President of Haiti is head of state elected directly by popular elections. The Prime Minister acts as head of government and is appointed by the President, chosen from the majority party in the National Assembly. Executive power is exercised by the President and Prime Minister who together constitute the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the two chambers of the National Assembly of Haiti.. The current president is René Préval.

What do you like the most about Haiti? I have never been there, so I don’t really know anything about the country. I now many people from Haiti and they are proud of their country.
