HISTORY Informatics came from the fench word informatique which means computing and was first used as medical informatics during the late 1970s, followed by nursing informatics during the 1980s. The words "nursing informatics"were unfamiliar among the nursing community until the year The Philippine Medical Informatics Society(PMIS) and its founders had strong influence in the development of health informatics in the Philippines. CHED as a Catalyst The nursing community was still yet to follow its international counterparts in the adoption of information, communication and technology in nursing practice in the Philippines.

Issues and Challenges Like many other disciplines, nursing informatics face many challenges while in its infancy stage.

Nursing informatics (NI) is a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice. improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance the quality of patient care

CHALLENGES IN NIT Not all nurses are Tech K Not all hospitals are currently engaged to computers were computer based data's prevailed and still not into EMR (Electronic Medical Record) It would be better if all hospitals in the Philippines were computer based. the Nursing documentation. It is a dynamic and complex process.
