Making a Difference

Keywords or topics dotted around the house! Organise ideas onto index cards…keyword and prompts / topic on a card Highlight words / facts / useful sections PRACTISE …REPEAT! Use past papers and exam questions…look at the number of marks, time answers If you’re unsure….call us! Maybe we can help!

Offer encouragement and support Take an active interest in school work as well as things outside school…hobbies and interests are important, too Encourage your daughter to build in breaks during revision….provide healthy snacks and plenty of caffeine free drinks…water is best! Get a copy of the revision classes, support classes, exam timetable - help her to stay organised Help your daughter to maintain a sense of perspective Have strict rules on using mobile devices….switch them off! ABOVE ALL…..KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!! Making a Difference

Make sure your daughter has a quiet space, pens, pencils and paper Help her to get organised: folders, post-its, highlighters, index cards are all great resources Revision works best when it is done for minutes at a time SLEEP is crucial…rest will help her to be more productive Time spent organising revision notes is time well spent Past exam papers and questions are great practise. Go to the exam board websites or use copies from school Encourage your daughter to revise the bits that she DOESN’T know rather than going over the bits she is confident about! Make sure she is eating healthily and drinking lots of water Making a Difference

Encourage her to eat a healthy breakfast! Check times of exams and any equipment needed Reassure your daughter and wish her, ‘Good Luck!’ Make sure she rests ready for the next day Help with any final revision Remind her of all her hard work and how it is all going to pay off! Be there to talk things through with her…how did it go? If she feels the exam went badly reassure her that she won’t gain anything from worrying. Encourage her to bounce back and prepare for the next one. Give her a hug…she’s worked hard! Making a Difference

Staff at school are here to support your daughter and to support you. If we can help or if you are concerned then please just get in touch… Making a Difference
