Trends in government funding for students studying abroad (mil. yen) Outbound mobility: Financial support for sending Japanese students to study abroad  Degree courses Provision of scholarships for Japanese students to study abroad for one year or more with a view to gaining a master's degree or PhD. ・ FY 2015 Draft Budget : £ 3 M, 270 students (FY 2014 : 250 students)  Short courses Provision of scholarships for students enrolled at Japanese universities for short-term study abroad (up to 1 year) under reciprocal exchange. FY 2015 Draft Budget : £ 34 M, 22,000 students (FY 2014 : 20,000 students) From 2009 to 2014, the supports for short- term study abroad increased over 11 times 17
