2 My Experience! Studied abroad in Japan in the Summer of 2016 with International Studies Abroad (ISA) Was able to get a total of $8,000 in scholarships! Earned 6 credits in Japanese Language! Made life long friends from several different countries.

Located in Beppu, Japan Official course name: APU Gateway Program! Little Japanese experience needed, but PLEASE study before hand!

Great partner program! Best Advisors ever Sadly, no longer offering Japanese Language Summer Intensive program. They do have a Tokyo program!

10 Why should you studied abroad in Asia?
Collective Society Harder to access after graduation Learn about more about a culture radically different from yours It is BEAUTIFUL!

11 Finances Study Abroad can be expensive, but it also can be made affordable with scholarships! Semester programs are the easiest to get funded Summer are a little bit harder (STILL DOABLE)

12 Beyond Boundaries Scholarship
USC funded scholarship Eligibility students with significant financial need students from diverse ethnic backgrounds students with disabilities first-generation students (those whose parents have not obtained a college degree) students in fields of study underrepresented in study abroad (ex. STEM, Education, Nursing, Music, Psychology, Exercise Science, etc.) students in the Gamecock Guarantee program at USC

13 Beyond Continued Used for Maymester/Summer sesson
At least $2000 (I was able to get $5000!) Deadline January 15 At least 3 credits must be earned! Separate application found on ‘Symplicity’ with a Statement of Purpose and Financial Aide Award Letter Service Project when you get back!

14 Freeman-Asia Scholarship
IIE (The Institute of International Education) provided Awarded for semester, year long, and summer Summer award limit is $3000 Eligibility Strong financial need 20 hours/week course work in language, history or culture Limited to no experience with the country of interest Must be applying or accepted into a program

15 Freeman Asia Continued
A little bit of lengthy application process Need to set up an meeting with a Study Abroad Advisor and your Financial Aid Advisor Eligible countries: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam. Service project and survey required!
