Bay of Pigs Shortly after taking office, Kennedy approved U.S. training of Cuban rebels to overthrow Fidel Castro When the invasion occurred all went wrong and the U.S. was exposed for plotting to overthrow the Cuban government.

The Berlin Wall Built by the Soviets in 1961 to stop the flow of people out of East Germany and into West Berlin which was still occupied by the United States, France and Great Britain.
