 The topics you will cover are  Units 1 and 2 are studied together in year 10 and unit 3 in year 11. Init 1 Introduction to Small Business Exam 45 minutess Unit 2 Investigating Small Business Research in to a real business Controlled conditions to write up the results Unit 3 Building a Business Exam 45 minutess

 Understanding Customer Needs. Why are customer needs are central to starting a business? Types of market research, data collection and interpretation, market knowledge through direct customer contact.  Market Mapping. How can customers buying habits be analysed, market segments, market mapping and identifying gaps.  Analysing competitors strengths and weaknesses. Analysing competitors and the reasons, SWOT, why make comparisons.  What options exist for starting a business? What is a franchise, advantages and disadvantages with alternatives, business location.

 You will need to work hard, and be enthusiastic,  Keep up to date,  Work set in the lesson is for the lesson,  Homework is for homework – needs to be done,  If you miss a lesson it is your responsibility to catch up/make sure you have the notes,  Literacy is very important.

 Theory work to prepare for the exam,  Unit 1 is split into 5 different topics,  Look at examples of real life business, Do you know a business,  Anecdotal evidence,  Different examples.  Trip to Alton Towers 28 th September – need replies and money soon!!
