Beliefs People with strong empowering beliefs: – Achieve their goals – Break through barriers Those who choose disempowering beliefs – Live the life they are trying to avoid

Beliefs – What are they? ‘An acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof’. ‘Something someone accepts as true or real; A firmly held opinion.’

How we make sense of our world

Beliefs What is life about? What are relationships? What is effortless? What is difficult? What is work? People are………….. Money is …………… ….

Types of Beliefs Global beliefs or ‘world view’ Identity beliefs Vehicle beliefs Values (beliefs) Rules (beliefs) Situation Specific beliefs

So far we know… Beliefs are perspectives We decide what things mean based largely on our beliefs Our beliefs are based on our interpretations of past experiences Our beliefs can be empowering or limiting

The power of Visualisation Try it on! Focus on solutions Makes it possible You MUST know what you want, and Practice!

‘Believe you can and you’re half way there’ Theodore Roosevelt ‘ Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” Henry Ford ‘ Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.’ William James

So how do I change a belief? 1. How did I form my beliefs? My Defining moments – homework!

How can you remove or change a limiting belief? 1.Name it 2.Identify: How is it helping you? 3.How else can you find that? 4.Describe what you want 5.Act and Cultivate Get a coach!

Developing empowering beliefs 2. What beliefs will support the life you want? ‘Affirmations’ – a great start Find references, Then ‘ACT AS IF’ ‘It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen’ Muhammad Ali

Developing empowering beliefs 3. The Pain and Pleasure Model - Associate pain - Create doubt 4. Are these beliefs supporting what I want from life? -Take inventory

Empowering Beliefs ‘Everyone has everything they need RIGHT NOW’ We are all whole and complete Sometimes we get disconnected We bring forward what we learn as children That doesn’t have to be who we become

Empowering Beliefs ‘Everyone is doing the best they can’ With the resources they have available at any given moment INCLUDING ME! People have good intentions Try it on …..

The way forward……… To live the life I desire: What do I need to believe about myself? What do I need to believe about life? What beliefs do I need to let go of? For reflection: What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail?
