 Set up a Reserve System for ALL of the First Nations across Canada  Determined who was “Indian” who was not  Set up an Education System to “assimilate” all First Nations

 Loss of culture, language and family led to long term psychological damage on many Aboriginal families  Communities destroyed  Marginalization in Canadian Society  Dysfunctional relationship imposed creating dependency

 Created by Canadian Government to fully “assimilate” First Nations into Canadian Society  Spurred many protests across Canada  Led to national move among First Nations to work towards:  Self-government for all nations  Aboriginal education/educators

 Recognition of “oral” history as valid documents for legal negotiations  Referred to the as the Delgamugk Decision  Unleashes new waves of discrimination against the First Nations
